Our Story

Taste of Mothiana was founded in 2010 by husband and wife, Brett and Chryssa Cook, and their uncle, Antoine Taylor. The idea to formulate an ultra premium olive oil company developed when the Cook family and friends traveled from the U.S. to Crete, Greece for the wedding of the Cook's only son to the Giakoumakis family's youngest daughter. They were overwhelmed by the Cretan hospitality and amazing dishes, especially the Giakoumakis olive oil, which was like nothing they had experienced. This led to the discovery of ultra premium olive oil, a standard superior to extra virgin and more difficult achieve.

For the past 200 years, the Giakoumakis family has mastered traditional agricultural methods, which include hand-selecting the perfect olives, natural cultivation and cold pressing at the family mill. The groves reside in the seaside village of Mothiana and have been in the Giakoumaki family for centuries.
